On the Road to Cynosport: Tami, Shelby and Boss

Tami Rasmussen of Scottsdale, Ariz., can’t wait to compete at Cynosport® this year, which is practically in her own backyard. Her two rescue dogs—Shelby, a 9-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and Boss, a 3-year-old Australian Cattle Dog—are both from AZ Cactus Corgi Rescue. Shelby was first owned by someone who did not understand a corgi’s activity level, and Tami adopted Boss as a puppy after he was born into the rescue.

Tami started running agility just over 10 years ago with a Hurricane Katrina rescue dog who lacked confidence. “I was looking for an activity that would help build her self-confidence and teach her to have fun,” she said. “The idea of getting to play with your best furry friend and compete at the same time was too great of an opportunity to pass up!”

“These events are wonderful experiences for agility teams to grow and learn,” she added. Coming into Shelby’s fourth year and Boss’s first at Cynosport®, Tami is most looking forward to the camaraderie and friendly competition.

When she is not training and competing with her rescues, Tami works as an Executive Director for JPMorgan Chase Bank.
