The New York Times ranked Paso Robles number 6 on their list “52 Places to Go in 2020” and noted, “Paso Robles has turned the good life — of wine, olive oil, cheese and boutique hotels — into an identity.”
Paso Robles is located at the major crossroads of U.S. Highway 101 and State Highway 46, halfway between Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. Situated in the coastal mountain range of central California, Paso Robles, or “Pass of the Oaks,” is close to mountains, beaches and deserts. The area has an ideal climate for olive groves and grape growing; there are more than 300 wineries, 26,000 vineyard acres and 40 varietals of wine. You can visit the thermal springs, which are said to have healing powers, or one of the more modern spring resorts in the area. Options for fine dining are also plentiful, and Paso Market Walk, a 16,000-square-foot marketplace, is expected to open this year.
According to Trip Advisor, Paso Robles offers numerous unique wine tours, such as the Original Hearst Castle & Paso Robles Wine Country Tour, Sculpterra Winery and Sculpture Garden, and Kramer Guitar Cellars. Other attractions include the Estrella Warbird Museum, which displays military planes, weapons and memorabilia; Paso Robles Pioneer Museum, with historical relics like farming tools, a 19th-century schoolhouse and a reconstructed jail; and several children’s attractions.
